The star of the day is the best seller Sunray from Biwbik. It is an electrically assisted bicycle, dedicated to the city and very popular with women. Does this 2022 version of the bike really live up to its reputation?
⚠️ Since the Biwbik Sunray is not available in the U.S., we suggest the Vivi C26 instead, an electric bike perfect for daily commuting.
Why choose the Biwbik Sunray?
500W rear hub motor. 48V 7.8Ah removable battery. Shimano 7-speed gears. Mechanical double disc brakes. LED front and rear lights. Fork suspension and soft saddle. Weight: 62.36 lbs.
Budget: $ | Speed: 20 mph | Range: 50 miles
The Biwbik Sunray has nothing to envy to other electric bikes, in particular thanks to its city style and the quality of its materials. An autonomy that can theoretically reach 50 miles (count rather 40 miles according to our analyses) with 3 levels of assistance and a very satisfactory quality/price ratio. An opportunity to seize if you want an electric bike of good quality at low cost.
An electric bike with a very urban style
The style of this new bike is something that appealed to me instantly. Its design and its luggage rack make me think of vintage Dutch bikes and it’s very successful! It is available in white and black: 2 sober colors which bring a certain elegance to the Sunray.

The bike is dedicated to city and country walksit. It has a front and rear mudguard and a chain guard to prevent shocks to the chain. His luggage rack will help you to transport your belongings very easily and the 6-speed derailleur from Shimano will help you save your efforts as well as your speed.
Engine and battery
The Biwbik Sunray has a 10Ah, 36V li-ion battery that offers a range of up to 40 miles. It takes about 5 hours to fully charge it. The autonomy varies according to the weight of the cyclist, the road surface and also the weather, which is the case for most e-bikes. The battery is located between the saddle and the rear mudguard, close to the bike’s center of gravity. A good choice for stability.
The motor of the Biwbik Sunray is a 250W Brushless. It’s not a rocket, but it’s not the ambition of this bike either, which is more of a leisure bike, ideal for short daily trips. It offers 3 levels of pedaling assistance: eco, medium and fast
- Eco mode limits the use of the battery by reducing the electric assistance.
- The fast mode increases the speed but the battery will drain faster. With this mode, you can reach 20 mph.
- The medium mode is the happy medium between the two previous modes. This is the one I used the most when testing the Sunray.
The electric assistance is very progressive, which is particularly pleasant. It triggers after 3 – 4 pedal strokes.
Bicycle wheels, brakes and suspension
As for the wheels, we are here on some 26 inches, a fairly standard size for a city bike. The tires are of good quality and the rims are double-walled, a plus for stability.
The brakes of a bicycle are very important but those of an e-bike are even more important because of the speed at which you ride. Biwbik has chosen to bet on safety by equipping the Sunray with disc brakes.
The suspensions are fork suspension quite comfortable. I personally didn’t feel any discomfort on the roads and cobblestones. They do their job very well.
Comfort and maneuverability: two pillars of this bike
The bike here weighs just over 55 lbs, we are about average for an electric bike of this type. Unless you have a few months of bodybuilding in your arms, it is therefore not a bike that we will advise you if you live on the 8th floor of a building without an elevator. On the road, however, the weight of the bike combined with the double-walled rims provide a really very high stability and avoids sudden movements, which is very much appreciated. I would point out that with the electric assistance activated, you don’t feel the weight of the bike at all.
The saddle is quite comfortable, I haven’t felt any back pain after many miles on the bike and the design of the bike helps keep us upright. The luggage rack at the back allows us to put bags and various belongings which also helps us to avoid loads on the back.
Stepping over the bike is very easy by design and it is very pleasant, especially if you are wearing dresses. Note that the weight limit for this bike is 254 lbs. The minimum size is 155 cm (5’09) and the maximum is 185 cm (6’07) to ensure good comfort and good driving for the user. A bike adapted to small people even if other bikes are much more adapted to people less than 4’9.
Monitor
The monitor is located on the left handle and it allows you to control the switching on of the front and rear headlights. It also allows you to select the assistance mode and see the battery level.

Conclusion
You will find the Sunray from Biwbik at a very low price compared to other similar electric bikes. A price that explains why this bike is regularly out of stock. Note that this bike is guaranteed for 2 years. In short, a versatile and solid electric city bike that you can rely on for your daily journeys, and that in the long term.
